Vanessa Romaides as Queen Susan

VANESSA ROMAIDES (she/her/hers) is a student, actor, and classically trained singer. She has been working with Theater in the Open since 2014. Previous Theater in the Open credits include A Peter Pan Panto, Much Ado About Nothing, and Snow White A Through The Looking Glass Panto. Vanessa has also worked with other local theater companies such as The Actors Studio of Newburyport, The Top Notch Players, and The Firehouse Center for the Arts. She is currently attending Pace University in New York as a nursing major, but still continues to be in productions. vanessa.romaides@gmail.com

Gwynnethe Glickman as the Prince

GWYNNETHE GLICKMAN has been working with Theater in the Open since 2013, and is feeling very honored to help keep the Panto magic alive during these extremely limiting and uncomfortable times. In life, Gwynnethe is studying towards a degree in theater, while simultaneously working as a children’s yoga and theater teacher. Gwynnethe currently studies at Northern Essex Community College, where she is an active member of the theater community. At NECC, Gwynnethe has performed in four shows and attended the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in 2019 and 2020; in 2019 she was awarded Outstanding Performance in a Play, and in 2020 Best Comic Actor as an Irene Ryan finalist. Most importantly, Gwynnethe raises her daughter Soleil, whom she enjoys many bountiful pastimes with. Recent credits include: GeorgeAnne in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress and Jeannie in Good People at NECC and Althea in Hair at Seacoast Repertory Theatre.

Willow Dixon as clara

WILLOW DIXON is a sixth grader from Newburyport. She began attending Theater in the Open’s Summer Arts Workshop in 2014 and since then has appeared in several productions. She is a member of Newburyport’s Joppa Dance Company and loves to practice circus arts. In her spare time she likes to skateboard, dance, and play with her pets which include a dog, a rabbit, and two lizards.

Willow has previously appeared in Adventures in Zoomland (2020), A Christmas Carol Panto (2019), Medea (2018), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2017) at Theater in the Open.

SIERRA GITLIN AS Drosselmeyer

SIERRA GITLIN is an artist, activist, and mother of two from Newburyport. She has been acting professionally for the past four years, appearing in several Theater in the Open productions. She has been seen in Twelfth Night and Waiting for Godot at the Firehouse Center for the Arts. She is passionate about storytelling, community, nature, history, and the healing power of the arts, and feels enormously blessed to be able to engage all of these in her work in Newburyport.

Sierra has previously appeared in The Tempest (2019), Julius Caesar (2019), A Peter Pan Panto! (2019), Medea (2018), and Antigone (2017) at Theater in the Open.

Stephen Haley as harlequin

STEPHEN HALEY is a director, actor, and dancer from Newburyport. He has worked extensively in the artistic community, collaborating with Theater in the Open, the Firehouse Center for the Arts, Exit Dance Theatre, and the Actor’s Studio over the past thirty years.

Stephen has previously appeared in A Christmas Carol Panto! (2019), A Cinderella Panto (2018), and Through the Wardrobe: A Winter Wonderland Panto! (2017) at Theater in the Open. Most recently, he directed The Tempest (2019) and Medea (2018) for the company.

Will Mombello as Himself

WILL MOMBELLO has been working with Theater in the Open since 2013. He is a graduate from St.Johns College where he studied Philosophy and the history of Math and Sciences. He is a rejected novelist in his free time as well as a devoted lover of dogs. He can be seen in his home quarantining.

Will has previously appeared in Much Ado About Nothing (2018), Twelfth Night (2015), As You Like It (2014), and Orpheus (2013) at Theater in the Open.

Joy powers as petrushka

Teddy told JOY POWERS (she/her) that she could write her bio in character as Petrushka, but since Petrushka doesn’t talk, Joy has decided to take care of this one. Joy is a very lucky Massachusetts native who got to travel the country as a circus clown, first with Circus Smirkus, and then with Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus! She is also a founding member of The Piccolini Trio, and created and toured with Cirque Us. Joy is now proud to have her number one dream job - being a therapeutic clown with The Laughter League, serving the children and families of Boston Children’s Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Joy is also an artist: she works in concrete sculpture, mural painting, gouache, and lots of other things. Follow her art page on instagram: @joypowersart! <3

MICHAEL J. BLUNT is thrilled to apart of this wonderful project! Past credits include Twelfth Night (The Firehouse Center for the Arts), Hamlet, Othello (Third Citizen Theater Co.), Love! Valour! Compassion! (Zeitgeist Stage Company), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Waterbury Symphony Orchestra), and many more. As a signed model (Model Club Inc), Michael participates in various film and photography projects throughout the Northeast.

Michael has previously appeared in Once More Unto the Ballot Box and Adventures in Zoomland (2020), A Christmas Carol Panto (2019), The Tempest (2019), and A Peter Pan Panto! (2019) at Theater in the Open.

Aisha delilah as cinderella

AISHA DELILAH (she/her/hers) is a New England actress, singer, and advocate for the human spirit. She was raised by the artists of Theater in the Open and could not be happier about this opportunity to reunite with them. Aisha eagerly awaits the day she can perform live again, and she is grateful to have accessible art during such a challenging time. Charlotte Walters as ruby

CHARLOTTE WALTERS (she/her) sells kayaks for work and paddles them down rapids for fun. When it’s too cold to paddle, she goes back to her first love, theater. This year, COVID cancelled her production of The Hallelujah Girls, but gave her an incredibly exciting chance to help make another magical panto with TITO, even though she now lives 600 miles away. She’s thrilled for this unexpected opportunity, and hopes that @Home for the Holidays brings a little extra comfort and cheer to all in this craziest of holiday seasons.

Dylan C. Wack as contractually obligated

DYLAN C. WACK (he/him/his) is contractually obligated to appear in this Panto. Selected area credits include Baltimore and Fiddler on the Roof (New Repertory Theatre), The Tempest (Commonwealth Shakespeare Company), In the Forest She Grew Fangs (Also Known As Theatre), Girlish (Fresh Ink Theatre), Seminar, Parade, and Cloud 9 (Boston University School of Theatre). He holds a BFA in Theatre Arts with a Minor in Spanish from the Boston University College of Fine Arts, and a Certificate in Classical Acting from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He is currently in Unmentionables, a short film that will be out in early 2021, in addition to working as the Marketing Coordinator for TITO. Katie Formosi as dippy

KATIE FORMOSI (she/her) is an actor moonlighting as a bookseller.  Katie has been working with Theater in the Open since 2018 but was a fan of the group long before that.  Along with Theater in the Open, she has performed with Shawn Terenzi’s Academy of Dance, Northern Essex Community College’s Top Notch Players, George Washington University’s Generic Theater Company, UMass Amherst’s Student Theatre Guild, Dive In Productions, and the Pentucket Players.  As a student through UMass Amherst’s University Without Walls, she is studying Translation and Interpretation with a focus in German.

Katie has previously appeared in A Cinderella Panto! (2018), Julius Caesar (2019), A Christmas Carol Panto (2019), and Adventures in Zoomland (2020) with Theater in the Open.

CLAIRE RENALES AS annie

CLAIRE RENALES is a Portsmouth based cosmetologist who has been part of the Theater in the Open community for over a decade.

Claire has previously appeared in A Cinderella Panto (2018) and Through the Looking Glass: A Snow White Panto! (2017) at Theater in the Open.

Bonniejean Wilbur as the fairy godmother

BONNIEJEAN WILBUR is a perennial TITO favorite, having directed and acted in Theater in the Open shows for years. Bonniejean has also performed at the Firehouse Center for the Arts, including The Importance of Being Earnest.

Bonniejean has previously appeared in The Tempest (2019), A Cinderella Panto (2018), Antigone (2017), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2017) at Theater in the Open. She directed the 2018 production of Much Ado About Nothing for the company.

paul wann as Father Christmas

PAUL WANN began working outdoors as a children’s theatre actor in the late 1960’s. He is grateful to the directors he has worked with whose kindness and art have helped him learn the craft: in Minneapolis, Moses Goldberg & George Muchamp; in Gloucester, Mary John Boylan, Paula Plum & Robert Walsh; in Newburyport, Theresa Linnehan, Stephan Haley, Bonniejean Wilbur & Greg Moss. He knows the trees of Maudslay love live theatre, especially Shakespeare and that birds and powerboats steal scenes.

Paul has previously appeared in The Tempest (2019), Much Ado About Nothing (2018), Antigone (2017), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2017) at Theater in the Open.

JAMES SHERIDAN is an Amesbury based educator and artist, who has been part of the Theater in the Open community for over a decade.

James has previously appeared in Adventures in Zoomland (2020), Much Ado About Nothing (2018), and A Frog Prince Panto! (2016) at Theater in the Open.

Kathryn Tolley as Mrs. Potts

KATHRYN TOLLEY (she/her/hers) is a Boston-based actor and opera singer. She is excited to reprise her most-beloved role of "disembodied singing voice in a TITO production." Kathryn holds a Master of Music in Voice from Boston University. Favorite operatic roles include Dorabella in Così fan tutte (Lowell House Opera), Hansel in Hansel and Gretel (Opera51), and Jo March in Mark Adamo’s Little Women (Hawaii Performing Arts Festival). Kathryn also spent many happy summers teaching at Theater in the Open's yearly Summer Arts Workshop.

Kathryn has previously appeared in Adventures in Zoomland (2020), Orpheus (2013), and The Flies (2011) at Theater in the Open.

Edward F. Speck, Director and Playwright

EDWARD F. SPECK has served as the Artistic Director of Theater in the Open since 2009. He has been seen in TITO shows for the past 25 years, including the Tempest, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Medea, and Much Ado About Nothing. He is a proud member of Exit Dance Theatre.

Joshua Shack, Director

JOSHUA SHACK has co-directed the pantos for Theater in the Open since 2014; Adventures in Zoomland is lucky number thirteen! Josh decided to become a clown when he was just three years old, and he began performing professionally at age nine. From 2000-2003 he spent his summers touring with the Circus Smirkus Big Top Tour, and in 2004 he toured nationally with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey. He is a co-creator and performer of The Piccolini Trio and directed their critically acclaimed stage show Circus in a Trunk. Other directing credits include Out of Orbit at The Theater at Saint Peter’s in New York City, and Nothing but Nonsense, a variety musical comedy at Circus World Museum in Baraboo, WI. He currently serves as a teaching artist-in-residence and Director of Programming for Circus Smirkus and has been Production Manager for the Big Top Tour since 2009.

Ben Scheff, Composer

BEN SCHEFF is a sound designer and composer for theatre, dance, and circus. Selected credits include Off-Broadway: Only Human (Jesse James Films), Kennedy: Bobby Kennedy’s Last Crusade (LDK/New Circle Theater), Red Roses, Green Gold (MWM Live). Touring: ’Twas the Night Before… (Cirque du Soleil), The Great American Road Trip and Carnival (Circus Smirkus). Regional: The Secret in the Wings and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (South Coast Rep Youth Conservatory), No Room for Wishing (Company 1/Central Square Theater). Assistant/Associate Sound Design: Roundabout Theatre Company, Manhattan Theatre Club, New York Theater Workshop, Cherry Lane Theater, Primary Stages, Playwright’s Realm, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, South Coast Rep, The Geffen Playhouse, Opera Theater of St. Louis, Clarence Brown Theater. Maddison Shea, Production stage manager

Maddison Shea serves as the Production Stage Manager for Adventures in Zoomland. She graduated from New England College with a degree in Theatre Arts, and currently serves as Production Manager for Theater in the Open. Maddison has also worked with local theater companies, including Third Citizen Theatre Company, The Firehouse Center for the Arts, The 5th Wall, and History Alive.
