Little Red's Puppetry Workshop

Little Red's Puppetry Workshop

Theater in the Open presents a free puppetry performance and workshop, introducing audiences of all ages to the construction and use of traditional hand puppets. We will begin with a short performance of Little Red Riding Hood, set to music by Newburyport Chamber Music Festival's Artistic Director, David Yang. Following the performance we will "lift the curtain" on how each effect was created and invite the audience to use the puppets and stage themselves. We will then provide materials and guidance for guests to make their own puppets. Theater in the Open’s programs are community-based and participatory. Central to our mission is the intersection of performance and arts education, keeping traditional forms alive by teaching them to the next generation.
